Answer #2 (Write in a complete sentence like a thesis statement)*
A speech pathologist can integrate a family-centered therapy to help a child with Autism.
3 details to support the answer (a detail is a fact and an example)
  • Establish communication partners - For example, the speech pathologist and parents are able to communicate between each other about the child, new skills they have learnt, and resources that are available for the child to receive.
  • Parent Training- For instance, a comprehensive program that is offered for parents of children with Autism, it can include programs from formal to informal support groups .
  • Broader based awareness- A family centered therapy will allow families to promote awareness and understanding of the disorder within and outside of their family.
  • Family system and preferences are included- For example, during the therapy the speech pathologist can take into account priorities and concerns when planning interventions. Also, the speech pathologist is able to develop assessments and interventions that respects the family's system and preferences.
